Donatas Bielkauskas ir Darius Gerulaitis projektą "Wejdas" sukūrė 1994 metais Jurbarke. Tai buvo bene pirmasis tamsios ambient muzikos projektas Lietuvoje, turintis aiškias ir gilias sąsajas su etnine baltų muzika, pagoniška pasaulėžiūra, sakraline Prūsijos erdve. Originalus ir novatoriškas projektas greitai patraukė tuomet dar tik besiformuojančios Lietuvos darkwave scenos klausytojų dėmesį, taip pat sudomino užsieniečius. Darius šiai muzikai sugalvojo terminą amber ambient, vėliau tapusį etaloniniu apibūdinimu.

1994-aisiais pasirodė du pirmieji kasetiniai albumai - "Į Tamsą" ir "Saulei Tekant" (Dangus). Po metų sekė pagarsėjęs darbas "Dykra" (Dangus prod.) ir specialus projektas "Without Sleep" (išleistas Art Prod. Portugalijoje). 1998-aisiais įrašytas žymiausias projekto albumas "Wejdas" [field recordings buvo daryti/rinkti 1995/96 vasarą; tais pačiais metais sukurtas albumas, kuris 1998 patobulintas Šiauliuose. - W]. Jį CD formoje išleido žymi JAV firma "Red Stream", kuri praktiškai ir pristatė Wejdą pasaulinei publikai. Po šio albumo projektas iširo - Donis sukūrė savo projektą ir persikėlė gyventi į Klaipėdą, Darius toliau experimentavo Ensemble SP [aka SALIkaPALIKAU.- Darius] Šiauliuose... 2000-aisiais dar pasirodė Lietuvoje išleista albumo "Wejdas" MC, o metais ankščiau - speciali [skirta kolekcionieriams - W] "Dykra - die welt ohne rahmen" CDR versija po Bastet Recordings ženklu Vokietijoje. Dangus prod. ne kartą siūlė projekto nariams perleisti pirmuosius kasetinius albumus CD formate, tačiau muzikantai nepanoro savo diskografijoje nieko keisti.

WEJDAS history in short

Donatas Bielkauskas and Darius Gerulaitis founded the project "Wejdas" in 1994 in Jurbarkas. It was probably the first project of dark ambient music in Lithuania, obviously and profoundly related to ethnic Baltic music, pagan world-view, and sacral space of Prussia. Original and innovative project soon attracted attention of the audience of still developing Lithuanian darkwave scene, and also engaged foreign listeners. Darius invented a term for that kind of music - "amber ambient", which latter became a reference description.

In 1994 two tape albums - "Į Tamsą" ("Into the Darkness") and "Saulei Tekant" ("At Sunrise") were released (by Dangus). In a year these releases were followed by the most renowned work of the project "Dykra" ("Wasteland") (released by Dangus Prod.) and the special project "Without Sleep" (released by Art Prod. in Portugal). In 1998 the project recorded their most significant album "Wejdas" [field recordings were made/collected in summer, in 1995 and 1996, the album was created the same year and accomplished in 1998 in Šiauliai]. The album was released in a CD format by the famous USA company "Red Stream" that presented "Wejdas" to foreign audience. After having released this album, the project broke up - Donis started his own project and moved to Klaipėda, and Darius proceeded with his experiments in "Ensemble SP" [aka SALIkaPALIKAU - Darius] in Šiauliai… In 2000 the album "Wejdas" appeared in Lithuania in an MC format, and one year before a special [for collectors - W] CDR version of "Dykra - die Welt ohne Rahmen" was released in Germany under the sign of Bastet Recordings. Dangus Prod. offered the members of the project to release their first tape albums in a CD format, but the musicians chose not to change their discography.
